In May 2000, the bulk of ScottishPower/Manweb IT staff were TUPE transferred into a joint venture company called Calanais owned 50:50 by ScottishPower and SAIC (a US outsourcing company with 41,000 employees, largely based in the US but with a small operation of 500 in the UK).  Whilst the TUPE transfer protected the collective bargaining rights of those transferred, all new starters after May 2000 were taken on to personal contracts. Yes – the ballot will be a postal ballot conducted by the Electoral Reform Society
 

What will be on the ballot paper

You will be asked two questions – are you willing to take industrial action short of strike action and are you willing to take industrial action in the form of strike action.  The Trade Unions strongly encourage you to answer YES to both these questions.
