The results of the ballot of Unison members in SAIC over pay have just been released and show a large majority in support of industrial action, both short of and including strike action. The details of the results are:
Ballot Papers Issued 134
Ballot Papers Returned 89 (66.4%)
Industrial Action in the form of action short of a
strike?
Yes = 60 (67.4%)
No = 29 (32.6%)
Spoilt = 0
Yes = 54 (60.7%)
No = 35 (39.3%)
Spoilt = 0
This excellent result confirms the views expressed by Trade Unions in SAIC that a further below inflation pay offer is unacceptable to members. Attitudes have clearly hardened since the consultative ballot in June and we believe the Company need now to reflect on the current situation, listen to staff and adopt a more realistic approach to this year pay negotiations.
Members meetings will be scheduled to discuss the results over the next couple of days with details to follow. Please can you do your best to attend.
