The Energy Bill
During the Queens speech, the government announced it was continuing to progress its energy bill through the legislative session. The fact that the bill was not completed during its first legislative session speaks volumes about the way this important issue is being managed within government. It also gives a clear indication of the internal tensions that exist within the coalition on this policy matter.
UNISON has some key concerns about the direction of travel this government is following, none of which are adequately addressed by this proposed legislation. See more here
The real cost of Benefits
If you believe some sections of the media and the Government you may be under the impression that the cost of benefits is out of control and will bankrupt the country if not severely cut back.
However, is this really the case? See here for the other side of the argument.
